What to do to Avoid Wrist Pain

wristThere are things in life that we do not take notice of. Problems so small that does not catch our attraction. But that is only till we do not suffer with that problem. Such a problem is wrist pain. If you never had it, you will probably pay no attention on how to keep it away. But those of you who have had experience of wrist pain, you know, how different things could have been if you have been careful about it. Most of us who do yoga regularly are likely to feel the wrist pain more than anybody else. Actually our hands are not designed to do heavy work. So when you try to use your wrists to bear all your body weight, it might cause you some pain. But strengthening wrist muscles, a proper stretching and proper body alignment can make the pain go away and improve your wrist strength.

Wrist pain can be caused by several ways. It can occur due to excessive use of the hand joint or due to wrist injuries.  You can also fall victim of wrist injury as a result of weak muscles, improper use or wrong motions. Wrist pains are also observed in aging people and people with diseases like arthritic or diabetes.

The first step in treating your wrist pain is to stop doing whatever is causing you the pain. You will have to rest your wrist and keep it free from any activity that might cause the pain. But a complete rest is not something that all of us can offer. Some of us depend on our wrists to earn the livelihood. People like typists, writers, therapists and likes cannot just give up what they do to rest the wrists. For them there are different ways to treat the wrist pain.

The idea is to modify your style of work and the schedule of work. If you are working 4 days a week straight, then if possible work on alternative days. That would give your wrist a break in-between. If you are working for 6 hours straight, break it down into 3 sessions of 2 hours each and take a 15 minutes break after each session. During the breaks do a little stretching with your wrist. This will help you to keep the muscles healthy and prevent it from stiffening and hopefully you will get rid of your wrist pain.
